What you’ll find at The Brush & Broom Restaurant
Our History
The Brush & Broom Restaurant, located next to the Hill Brush Company’s modern factory, is the result of a special family vision. Chairman Philip Coward led the move to Norwood Park, expanding the business beyond its original Mere premises and securing its future. Hillbrush products proudly hold the Royal Warrant, and in 1952 the factory was visited by Queen Elizabeth II, a testament to the company’s enduring commitment to quality.
His son, Charlie, expanded that ambition by creating a welcoming bistro-style restaurant, thoughtfully designed to offer visitors not just a place to stop, but an experience to enjoy. Now run by Charlie’s wife, Kerstin, The Brush & Broom Restaurant & Shop combines warmth with exceptional British cuisine, serving modern takes on classic dishes that celebrate local flavours and seasonal produce.
Today, it stands as a vibrant community hub, bringing together the family’s passion for hospitality with Hillbrush’s proud tradition of craftsmanship.
Visitors can also browse the history displayed along our restaurant walls, where photographs and stories from over the years trace the company’s journey, a visual tribute to the Coward family’s commitment and legacy.
